JAA helped implement the Ukraine Competitive Economy Program, supporting emerging industries in Ukraine. The five-year project focused on improving competitiveness of industries with the goal of promoting exports of Ukrainian goods and services as well as improving business enabling environment and building the government’s capacities to comply with its WTO and DCFTA obligations. JAA prioritized emerging sectors with potential for rapid growth, success in export markets, and that would generate significant investment and new skilled jobs.  In addition to Agribusiness, Wood Products & Furniture and ICT, JAA’s priority sector was Tourism. In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism the Ukrainian National Tourism organization, and private sector partners, JAA led the sector analysis, SWOT, identified tourism resources and constraints which resulted in strategy development and action planning. This was followed by the implementation of the project’s sector assistance and facilitation activities. JAA supported the development of regional tourism plans to identify regional products and experience for development in the oblasts. JAA also helped create a Tourism Barometer conducting surveys of inbound markets, to understand their expectations for product when visiting Ukraine.
