USAID Trade and Competitive Nepal Activity (DELOITTE)
This project helped to maximize international economic linkages, boost the competitiveness of SMEs, and mobilize investment in tourism agriculture, and digital services. Leading implementation of the tourism and agriculture components, JAA supported systemic market development to enhance competitiveness, inclusion, and investment. JAA carried out a comprehensive “tourism market system assessment”, which analyzed global tourism trends, reviewed the current tourism competitiveness of Nepal as a destination, and identified product-market opportunities. JAA has worked to develop various tourism segments and regional tourism offerings for Nepal, including new growth sectors. JAA helped plan and fund the development of the Maya Devi Trail to the birthplace of the Buddha in southern Nepal and a safari tourism in the less known jungle areas of lowland Nepal. JAA also worked to develop strategies to attract Indian tourists, one of the world's growth sectors in terms of demand. JAA conducted a thorough tourism market systems assessment and used its tools to assess the current competitiveness of the Nepal tourism offer. This was followed by support to upgrade small and medium business services to maximize income generation for the local communities and connect them with internation customers. JAA also brought "influencers" to Nepal resulting in favorable media and an upsurge in international arrivals and spending.
