JAA was an implementing partner on the cancelled USAID-funded Egypt Higher Education Partnerships Program (HEPP). HEPP was designed to address pervasive shortcomings of Egyptian higher education institutions in qualified human capital, relevance and quality of curricula and research, institutional capacity, and structural misalignment of incentives. At the core of achieving improvements in Egypt’s competitiveness and innovation capacity to address development challenges was intensive facilitation of continuous and sustainable private‐sector involvement to drive durable commitment to productive industry‐academe relationships, led by Egypt experts at JAA using the “10 Bridges” methodology for partnership development. JAA identified high growth sectors and private sector partners, worked with businesses to articulate their workforce priorities, and initiated university-business dialogue before the project was cancelled.
