USAID Feed the Future (FTF) Rwanda Kungahara Wagura Amasoko

USAID Feed the Future (FTF) Rwanda Kungahara Wagura Amasoko (Prosper While Expanding Markets) (2021 to 2026) supports the Government of Rwanda (GOR) to increase high-value agricultural exports by working with and through the GOR, the private sector, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to facilitate $300 million in new investments in the sector. The project has two strategic objectives: i) facilitating an inclusive and resilient policy and regulatory environment; and ii) supporting local actors to attract investment into the sector. JAA manages the first objective under a subcontract with Research Triangle Institute (RTI). JAA is applying its Policy Development and Implementation Methodology, including assistance to government and the private sector to collaborate to improve policy development and implementation in a variety of areas, including contract farming and certification issues. JAA supports government institutions in capacity improvement initiatives that are conducted as the institution improve policies and their implementation. JAA supports private sector associations to execute advocacy campaigns, with advocacy capacity development done alongside the campaigns. JAA helps organize and facilitate improvements in public private dialogue platforms to increase their effectiveness through evidence-based inclusive dialogue. To guide this work, JAA conducted a Policy Landscape and Political Economy Analysis that provides an in-depth analysis of the key agriculture policies, the policy improvement processes, and the context for making improvements. This analytical work led to a detailed work plan based on co-creation with government and private sector partners.
