Democratic Republic of the Congo Strengthening Value Chains Activity (DRC SVC) USAID’s DRC SVC is currently focusing on strengthening the coffee, soybean, and bean value chains in South Kivu, focusing specifically on the Kalehe, Kabare, and Walungu regions. JAA conducted the project’s Political Economy Analysis to better ascertain the local political, economic, and social constraints to potential implementation activities. This included a survey of local stakeholders, producers, processors, and local government actor, as well as key regional and national actors in Goma, Rwanda, and Kinshasa. These surveys and the subsequent analysis focused on examining the potential for regulatory reform, direct technical assistance, and ecosystem-strengthening activities. JAA will conduct a collection and storage center assessment in 2018, including a survey of MSMEs and cooperatives in the soybean and bean sectors. This survey will guide the technical assistance provided during project implementation to key bean and soybean actors.
