Description
JAA led several entrepreneurship initiatives through USAID’s flagship PSDA program. In the context of a rapidly liberalizing and increasingly market-focused economy, JAA assisted Myanmar’s entrepreneurial community in preparing a White Paper on Entrepreneurship, and conducting the first National Entrepreneurship Summit. As follow-on to the acceptance of the White Paper and the Summit’s implementation decisions, JAA is now assisting Myanmar to define and implement several policy initiatives.
The White Paper highlighted the enormous opportunities for entrepreneurial investment and innovation in the country’s vast agribusiness sector, and the potential role of SMEs and of developing trade-oriented value chains. Policy initiatives to foster and encourage agro-entrepreneurship was identified as a priority, and JAA is assisting in assessing and developing policy action in this arena.
The White Paper, policy initiatives and their implementation will achieve dramatic results in trade, investment, innovation, productivity, and job creation in agribusiness and food systems, as well as in other sectors.
