Description
As a sub-contractor under the Making Cities Work – West Bank/Gaza Communities Thrive Project (just underway), JAA is leading the project’s overarching agenda for economic growth. JAA is helping to establish secondary municipalities as attractive locations for business and investment, including industries and value chains that will be economic drivers for the communities. JAA is supporting the following initiatives:
- Economic Strategic planning
- Fostering a favorable local environment for business and investment
- Promoting youth participation by catalyzing local entrepreneurship
- Economy-based collaboration amongst municipalities.
In helping municipalities to develop and implement long-term economic visions, prioritize actions, and develop strategic economic development plans, JAA is providing a basis for sustainable economic programming at the municipal level once the project ends. JAA’s work is highly participatory and highly collaborative, involving existing organizations to facilitate new investment and startups, engaging key stakeholders and ensuring that private sector-generated investment and employment continues after the project ends.
